Mattie Smelser is a paralegal and intake specialist focusing exclusively on medical malpractice and serious personal injury cases.
Mattie has worked in medical malpractice since 2017 on both the plaintiff and defense sides, giving her a practical understanding of how hospitals, insurers, and defense teams evaluate and defend claims. Since 2023, Mattie has concentrated her practice on plaintiff’s cases, where she assists with initial case evaluation, complex medical record review, expert coordination, discovery, and trial preparation.
In her intake role, Mattie is often the first point of contact for potential clients—listening to their stories, gathering critical information, and helping assess whether the firm can assist. Her blend of medical knowledge, organization, and empathy helps ensure cases are built carefully from the start and that clients feel informed and supported throughout the process.
Outside of work, Mattie enjoys spending time with her husband and their three young children and staying involved in their local community.
